I had heard on the news this morning when I got up that James Doohan had passed away, but didn’t know it was pneumonia that got him until I Googled his passing for an article to link to. Ironic, as it’s semi-related to this post.
Jim had been feeling under the weather off and on over the last couple of months. He’d be ok for a coupla weeks, then be out for a day or two, then be back up again … no biggie, right? Well, apparently he had been having really bad chest and side pains for the last half week or so. I didn’t know about it until Tuesday night on the way home, when he complained of being dizzy and being in extreme pain. In the early Wednesday hours he woke up in even more pain … I began to worry a little at this point.
We went by Baptist Health Systems, waited, talked to a nurse, waited some more, talked to his doctor, waited some more, had some x-rays taken, waited some more, then finally talked to the doctor again. It turns out that he has had “walking pneumonia” and his pain was caused by pleurisy.
She put Jim on some antibiotics and pain killers. What’s weird is that he’s probably had this for a while, and Jessie and I are pretty lucky that we haven’t caught it … or not from what I can tell. But then again, I did have a sinus infection a short time back and the antibiotics I was taking would have killed it plus my sinus infection.
Unfortunately this adventure ate up the whole day, so both of us were out of work yesterday, plus Jim was told to stay home one more day by the doctor. Yay, lucky me, I get to take his phone calls today, oh the joy.
heh, anyways … I’ve been having headaches from Hades again because of all these stupid storms. As much as I hate to say it, I wish it would quit raining so the barometric pressure would stay at one-freakin-level for a change!!!

Sorry to hear your all ill… again. Honestly I swear your household is a testbed for gods very own germ management system or GMS :p
Stay safe, get better… I often find massive doses of stand up comedy make me laugh myself better.
Give me valium any day though.

LOL, thanks Ben, actually it’s just Jim that’s sick … but you’re right, we pass colds around. I swear, 90% of them are brought home by Jessie from school. I asked her if she would keep her colds next time, she said “Sure! Show me how.” ROFL
hehehe Jim’s attempting to self-heal with large doses of WOW. LOL
Valium = evil. I used to love that stuff … loved it a little *too* much sometimes. :?
Ben
Can’t get hold of it in the UK without getting to know some dodgy street dealer. So i have to go for the occasional herbal pain killer ;)
I think I must be the only geek who hasn’t got into WOW. My 16 year old sister and her mates play it and they listen to r’n’b and drink in the park so i’m definately in the minority.

It looks pretty cool, but I don’t like playing with the group that Jim’s in … some of them are assholes and I wouldn’t have a problem telling them so. (and I honestly don’t see why he puts up with them)
Besides, I haven’t the time to play right now. :P
