"Apathy"

Forgive me for being apathetic,
But it's hard to care when there's
A knife stuck in my back!

How can I be sympathetic
When you stab me with
The daggers in your eyes?

Why should I be considerate
When you whisper such lies
And falsities?

And why should I be so
Kind to you, when all you've
Shown me is cruelty and hate?

Forgive the Apathy, and forgive
The Contempt, but I will not be
Burned by you again.
